Greener Living

Ok, don't yawn! I'm not going to suggest you start wearing 5,000 layers of woolly jumpers instead of putting the heating on, but I did chuckle at a few of these brilliant suggestions, thanks to TetraPak and dothegreenthing....

  1. Cooking fish in tin foil using the heat from a car engine
  2. Using the water you’ve cooked with – e.g. pasta - to water your plants
  3. Brewing your own beer
  4. Reusing the milk you cook with to make a cup of tea
  5. Using household items like beer, egg, vinegar rather than shampoo
  6. Dressing in the dark to save electricity
  7. Showering with a friend!
  8. Cleaning your house with vinegar
  9. Using free colourful newspapers and magazines as wrapping paper
  10. Upcycle rubbish and unwanted items into presents
I'm not toooo sure about using vinegar to wash my hair with, but you never know!

You can find the full list here and for loads more inspiration, visit the fabulous DoTheGreenThing website.

3 Peaks Challenge Done!

Phew, that's the 3 Peaks Challenge done! And what an awesome adventure it was. We had lots of highs, and well, 3 Peaks, lots of laughs, a cpl of blisters and many happy memories. We were also truly lucky that the weather was on our side so we had some breathtaking views too.

The Ben Nevis Path

Ben Nevis summit. 30 degrees at the bottom, and yet still 2' of snow at the summit; bonkers!

A dusky start at Scafell Pike

Snowdon Miner's track

A happy finish! L-R: Lucy T, Lucy A, Sioned, Catherine, Angie, Dee

Since we completed the challenge, lots of people have asked me if I'd do it again (theoretically of course) and I think, now that the aches and pains have healed and the calories have been replenished, the answer's a resounding YES! Although next year we might try a different adventure. Welsh 3,000s anybody???
