As I huffed and puffed to the top of Snowdon the other weekend on a training session, and my little legs quivered as I reached the summit, I have to admit I did wonder at the wisdom of my decision. Or rather, I shouted out, to no-body in particular, "Whose flippin' idea was this???"
I clearly remember the day that my friend Ellen suggested it to me. We were in a warm and cosy pub and I was cradling a delicious glass of cider. It must have been stronger than I thought, because I found myself agreeing to this bonkers challenge.... I think I even justified it because I'd have "something to blog about"!! Haha, I'm pretty sure I would have found other things to blog about. Having said that, it has given me plenty to complain about, and plenty of excuses to consume my own body weight in chocolate and complex carbohydrates.
So, after 4 months of training, the challenge is very nearly here........
3 different countries, 3 of the highest mountains, 3 rugged National Parks, 10,000 feet of uphill ascent, 450 gruelling miles to travel….
And just
24 hours
To conquer the lot!
This is our Three Peaks Challenge! Ellen, Angie, Catherine, Dee, Lucy and Sioned have set themselves the challenge of their lives. Ben Nevis, Scaffel Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours.
As well as collecting laughs, blisters, achey knees and happy memories, we want to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Action along the way.
You can find out more info on our fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/GirlsDo3Peaks
There's a team of 6 of us, travelling up to Scotland this friday (25th) to start the challenge on the Saturday. Watch this space to find out how we get on!!
